American actor and musician Awkwafina made her debut with humorous lyrics that tackled issues of sexuality and identity with a boldly comedic perspective before broadening her presence to Hollywood. Nora Lum was born to Chinese Koreans living in Forest Hills Queens. Her initial exposure to music stemmed through the instrument of trumpet. Her classical, jazz and hip-hop education began when she was just a teenager. When she was in college, she was focusing in her studies, pursuing a degree in journalism and women's studies. for a brief amount during which she lived in Beijing She also studied Mandarin. Her focus was not in music until she finished her degree. The song My Vag, a response track to Mickey Avalon's My Dick gained viral popularity through the Internet during 2012. The track was later included on the album debut Yellow Ranger released in 2014. It also included other viral hits like the body-positive Queef and winking hometown tour NYC BitcheUSD. The latter song was linked directly to her other venture, Awkwafina's NYC Travel Guide, which was published in the year 2015. She began pursuing acting careers after having completed her two previous initiatives, as a writer and musician. Apart from early series like Girl Code and Tawk she was also featured in movies like Neighbors 2 Storks as well as Bad Rap. In 2018, she scored a number of breakthrough roles, such as Dude Ocean's eight or Crazy Rich Asians. In June, she published the EP In Fina We Trust.
